In this course we will learn about the foibles of government officials that have landed them in jail or ended their careers in disgrace and resignation. Baltimore and Maryland history is replete with the tales of corrupt state, local and federal officials. In the past 55 years, Baltimore has produced numerous elected officials who have been forced to resign after being charged with corruption, which include mayors, county executives, governors, and a Vice-President of the United States. These politicians are all colorful characters, and their crimes are both original and petty. After having some fun with our homegrown scoundrels, we will look at the corruption of leaders in other states and countries as well.

Deena Dugan has been an Adjunct Professor at CCBC for about ten years and has taught both U.S. Government and Comparative Government classes.
