Sex and culture in an ever-changing society! In this class, students will learn about how sex influenced culture in both the Victorian and Modern Era and how they have changed over the years. Discuss life and society in the Victorian and modern times and the way that they include sex and the role of sex and gender in culture, as well as how culture shaped our views on sex. Review how advancements in medicine played a role in changing attitudes. Explore the role of sex and gender in the law and the professional world. Evaluate changing attitudes regarding sex and how gender roles will continue to evolve.

Jennifer Liles is a Public Historian who focuses on Baltimore and Maryland history. She grew up in Highlandtown and Hampden and was educated by Baltimore Public Schools. Upon graduating from Villa Julie College, she worked in the private and non-public sectors until returning to school to obtain another bachelor’s in public history from Stevenson University. She has been married for over 20 years and has three children, two dogs and two cats. She loves jazz music, reading non-fiction and travelling.

Policies and Registration:
All SPICE courses must be registered for and paid for in their entirety. SPICE fees are per head, not per household, with a 50% off fee for second registrants within the same household.

A minimum of 15 enrollees per course are required in order to hold the course. If a course must be canceled, those registered will be notified and a SPICE credit will be issued.
