Join instructor Jackie Dailey for an exploration of Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Explore the legacy of Richard (Dick) Clark as an American television and radio personality, television producer, film actor, and cultural icon dubbed “America’s Oldest Teenager.” As host of American Bandstand, Clark was among the first pioneers to integrate live studio audiences without racial segregation, introduced rock and roll to many American youth, and showcased newly discovered music artists, including Ike and Tina Turner, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel and others to a nationwide audience.

Jackie Dailey is a retired UMB graduate school educator with over 30+ years of professional experience. She has taught at several academic institutions of higher education. She is an avid world traveler and enjoys teaching life-enrichment courses. Her passion is to share with others the global interconnectedness of dance, culture, and travel. Jackie has many contrasting interests. She is the Central Region of Baltimore Director of Dance Alchemy, a local dance troupe. She is also a choreographer, and folkloric dancer. Jackie is a certified Pilates and Aerobics fitness instructor. She also teaches Qigong Flow, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine that uses a system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation. Her fondest memories include reveling and dancing Samba atop a Carro alegórico (parade float) in Salvador, Brazil during the Carnival festival, trekking the Andean Machu Picchu in Peru, hiking the rainforests and whitewater rafting in Costa Rica, and cultural pilgrimage to Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa.
