Catherine Reid is a junior majoring in harp performance at the Eastman School of Music, in the studio of Prof. Kathleen Bride. Catherine performs regularly in Eastman's orchestras and wind ensembles and enjoys playing chamber music and solo repertoire. In 2021, Catherine was a young artist at the Bowdoin International Music Festival where she studied with Dr. June Han.

Previously, Catherine studied with Ann Hobson Pilot and Franziska Huhn at Boston University Tanglewood Institute and with Joan Holland at Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. Her master class teachers include Elizabeth Remy Johnson, Paula Page, Jessica Zhou, Isabelle Moretti, Elizabeth Hainen, and Isabelle Frouvelle.

A native of Baltimore county, Catherine began harp studies at age seven with Michaela Trnkova and piano studies with Marjorie Liss at age 12.

In the Peabody Preparatory, Catherine served as principal harpist of the Peabody Youth Orchestra from 2014-2019 and performed in chamber music ensembles. She was also principal harpist of the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra from 2017-2019, under the baton of Julien Benichou.

Catherine's notable performance venues include: Eastman's Kodak Hall with numerous Eastman large ensembles; Seranak, former home of Tanglewood founder Serge Koussevitzky; the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. with the Washington Opera Society; Philadelphia's Kimmel Center with the Peabody Youth Orchestra for a celebration of the United Nations' 70th anniversary; and Carnegie Hall with the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra for two benefit concerts. In 2019, Catherine won the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra concerto competition and performed as a concerto soloist with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, guest-conducted by New York City Ballet's Associate Music Director, Andrews Sill.

Catherine will perform works for harp spanning from the Baroque era to contemporary compositions.
