Enrichment Activities for Learning Ladder Children
Dramatic Play: Our children learn to develop their imagination, resourcefulness, and creativity through dramatizing stories, singing songs, and listening to music. Learning Ladder children engage in pretend play to support their social and emotional skills.
Gym: Our children enhance their gross and fine motor skills and physical fitness through gym class and other activities. During gym class, children improve their muscle movement and coordination through activities such as jumping, hopping, skipping, playing with the parachute, and participating in ball games.
Hebrew: All of our children are exposed to Hebrew through conversation and music. Through activities designed to foster an understanding of Judaism and Judaic principles, children begin to understand and use simple Hebrew terminology.
In-School Programs: Our children are engaged in a variety of age-appropriate experiences throughout the year to enhance their learning. Special programs at the Learning Ladder include the Zoo Mobile, Aquarium on Wheels, puppeteers, clowns, musicians, and truck day.
Music: Our children develop an appreciation for music through singing songs and various music-based activities such as identifying instruments, dancing to a beat, creating musical compositions, and musical theater.
Shabbat: Every Friday, our children are joined by a member of Har Sinai Oheb Shalom’s clergy to celebrate Shabbat. Together, we recite the blessings over the candles, grape juice, and challah, read a story, and sing Shabbat songs.
Storytelling: Our children are exposed to varied styles and genres of age-appropriate literature. By listening to stories read by adults, children are encouraged to develop creative thinking, appreciation and respect for books, and a love of reading, as well as build language and vocabulary skills.
